It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with Michigan. Our state is full of stunning scenery and hidden gems. Here’s a list of some of my favorite short-term rentals and Airbnbs that would be perfect for a cozy weekend with your favorite people, a Michigan honeymoon, or a place to stay for your Michigan elopement. Take me along and I’ll capture your love in real-life moments.
Cozy up by the crackling fireplaces or wind down n the steaming hot tub with endless views and sounds of the babbling Kalamazoo river. You’ll feel like you’re far up north as you are tucked back in the woods; however, you’ll only be 15 minutes to downtown Saugatuck and downtown Holland. You’ll also be 10 minutes from the famous wineries of Fennville. This is a perfect place to get away for a romantic Michigan honeymoon with nearby options for wining and dining.
This rental is truly unique and offers such a fun experience. Enjoy time in this inviting geometric dome with a cozy interior as you take in the views of rural Michigan. Spend time hiking at Saugatuck Dunes State Park, boating on Lake Michigan, or fishing at Kollen Park in Holland. Cook at ‘home’ with the amenities provided, or check out Wally’s or The Butler downtown Saugatuck for dinner. End your evening stargazing from the dome to the soothing sounds of crickets and bullfrogs.
The Birch Le Collaboration House offers a unique Airbnb experience in a prime location. It was designed as the ultimate Hygge Supply Home. The home’s design integrates modern architecture with nature in a sustainable way. The home is tucked back in the woods near Lake Leelanau but is near many local attractions. Enjoy your days at local wineries, award-winning cheesemakers, farmer’s markets, beaches, boating, fishing, and much more. Be sure to stop by Fishtown, a quaint historic fishing town with outdoor dining and local shops.
Located just 20 minutes of Marquette, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula, this gorgeous all-wood cabin sits right on the coast of Lake Superior. Enjoy a sandstone swimming hole in the summer or drive just a couple miles for sandy beach access to Lake Superior. This cabin is the perfect place for a quiet intimate getaway. Be sure to spend time enjoying all that Presque Isle Park has to offer with hiking, biking, and even cilf jumping then kick back and enjoy a craft beer at Black Rocks Brewery with some outdoor live music.
Not really up for a log cabin feel but still want to take in the beauty and breweries in Marquette? This cozy modern cottage sits on private property with beach access to Lake Superior just 10 miles outside of Marquette. Enjoy all that Marquette has to offer while staying in this recently renovated cottage.
Another favorite Airbnb of mine in the Upper Peninsula is this luxury log home on AuTrain Lake. This home is only two and a half miles from Lake Superior and only twelve miles from Munising and the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Spend all day exploring or paddling Pictured Rocks and relax under the stars around a campfire back on the home’s property.
This recently renovated cabin with offers a completely private experience with breathtaking views of Lake Superior. This cabin is located on two acres of wooded property on Michigan’s Keweenap Peninsula. Explore the rocky shoreline, enjoy local wildlife, and even see the northern lights at night. You won’t want to leave the property, but if you do, you’re near Copper Harbor mountain biking and Mt. Bohemia skiing as well as restaurants in Copper Harbor, a golf course, and brewery. Head west to Eagle Harbor where you’ll find a beautiful sand beach, lighthouse, and old coast guard station turned museum.
This rustic cabin on Moss Lake is the perfect place to unplug and spend time in nature. The cabin sits on 2,500 feet of private lakefront property and includes access to a ten foot jon boat with oars as well as four single seat kayaks. Paddle out to the middle of the shallow lake to fish or pike or watch the sunset. This private cabin offers a serene getaway where you can spend your entire trip on the property or venture out to Manistique and enjoy two miles of Lake Michigan Shoreline on the Manistique Boardwalk or hike at Indian Lake State Park.
Located in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula is this beautiful family home on the shore of Lake Michigan. This home offers spacious living space both indoors and outdoors with a large grassy yard and access to the sandy beach. Spend time searching for Petosky stones and beach glass along the shore. The house is in a quiet location just south of Manistee. Head north to Arcadia Overlook and climb the 120 stairs for one of the more breathtaking views of Lake Michigan you can get.
